Scared Of New Challenges?

Worried That You’ll Have An “Accent?”

When I decided to learn to surf big waves when I was about to turn 40 I wondered, Will I always surf with an accent? I worried it was too late for me to learn something so challenging later in life.

But it turns out that as we age we’re far more capable of learning novel skills than previously believed. Our culture is responsible for the misguided notion that there’s a limit to what you can do as you get older.

I Surf With An Accent

I learned to surf when I was nearing 40. Compared to those who had been surfing their whole lives, I felt like I surfed with an accent.

I wanted to know why. So I wrote a book about it.

I write about being a lifelong learner

I Love Words.

I enjoy putting them together.

I write about taking on new challenges later in life.
